How to play BWC UNO BWC UNO instructions BWC UNO rules

BWC UNO

There are two versions of UNO which are played at levels 2 or 4.

Object of the Game
The object of the game is to be the first player emptying their hand.

The Deal
The first dealer will be the player drawing the highest card from the shuffled deck. Dealer deals each player seven cards, one at a time, with player left of dealer receiving the first card.  The remainder of the deck is placed face down ready to be drawn from during play. Version one requires a discard pile, so the top card is drawn and placed face up next to deck, to start play. Version two does not require a discard pile.

Play-version one
Player left of dealer begins play, and play goes clockwise from player to player, until direction is changed.

The top card on the discard pile determines players play.

If discard is ‘J’ or ‘S’, the player whose turn it is jumped/skipped.

If discard is ‘C’ or ‘R’, the direction of play is changed/reversed from its current direction.

If discard is a vowel, player draws one card from deck and play continues with next player.

If discard is a Star, player draws three cards from deck and play continues with next player.

If discard is none of the above, the player may discard a card matching letter or either color of card on discard pile and play continues with next player.

There are two things to think about when discarding.
1.   Before you discard, you are allowed to discard one word from your hand following rules for level being       played.  The words are discarded into a separated discard pile.
2.  When discarding and you only have one card left, you must say UNO.  If you don’t, and any other player  calls you on it, you will be required to draw three cards from deck. If player unable to play, they must draw from the deck until they can play.  If deck runs out, save top card of discard pile and shuffle discard pile(s) to create new draw deck.

Play-version two
Player left of dealer begins play, and play goes clockwise from player to player.  During play, there will be a word being built, or there will be no word as would be the case of the first play of a hand. If there is no word being built, the player whose turn it is must select and play the first letter of a word which they announce to all players and play continues to next player. If there is a word being built, the player must play the next letter in the word being built, or play a word from their hand that DOES NOT have next letter in the word being built in it.  If they can do neither, they must draw a card from deck.  When playing a word or a letter, and they have only one card left, player must say UNO.  If they don’t, and any other player calls them on it, they must draw three cards from deck.  If a letter was played, and it completed the word being built, the word is put in a discard pile and next player will start a new word.  Play continues to next player. If deck runs out before the hand ends, shuffle all the discarded words making a new draw deck.

Hand ends
The hand ends once a player has played all their cards.

Scoring
Add value of card(s) in each players hand and record them per player.

Game ends
Game ends once a player reaches 500, or an agreed on number, of points or more.
Winner is player with the LOWEST score.
