How to play BWC Cribbage BWC Cribbage instructions BWC Cribbage rules

BWC CRIBBAGE

Object of the Game
The object of the game is to get from “Start” to “Finish” (121 points) first on the cribbage board. The game is played at level 3 with 2 letter words allowed.

Points
Before starting play, you need to know about when and how points are made. Players get points from their hand, from the crib (when they are the dealer) and during play of the hand.

Points in hand or crib:
    2 card word = 2 points
    3 card word = 3 points
    4 card word = 4 points
    5 card word = 5 points
    Card/s values totaling 15 = 2 points

Points during play are the same as for the hand or crib with the addition of 2 points for player playing card which makes 31 and 1 point to the player playing last card without going over 31.  Words do not have to be in order for player to collect points.

Example, cards played A C D E B. Player playing D would get 3 points for the word ‘CAD’.  Player playing B would get 2 points for the word ‘BE’, 3 points for the word ‘BED’ and 2 points because card values total 15.

Note – When counting points in hand or crib, a card may be used multiple times to make multiple words or 15s. Example, crib or hand contains NNAB and card cut is a K.  Because there are two Ns, the count would be –
The N value 14 + the A value 1 = 15 twice for 4 points
The word ‘AN’ twice for 4 points
The word ‘BA’ for 2 points
The word ‘BAN’ twice for 6 points
The word ‘BANK’ twice for 8 points
The word ‘NA’ twice for 4 points
The word ‘NAB’ twice for 6 points

The Deal
The dealer will be the player drawing the lowest card from the shuffled deck. Each player gets six cards.

Play variation 1
First, each player chooses the best four cards from their hand and discards face down the other cards into the dealers crib.  Once each player has discarded to the crib, the player receiving the first card cuts the deck, and that card is turned up to be used in all hands and the crib.

Then, the player receiving the first card from dealer begins play by laying down a card face up announcing value. The next player then plays a card announcing value of cards played plus value of card being played, which cannot exceed 31.  If they cannot play a card without going over 31, they say “GO”.  When no one can play without going over 31, player playing last card gets 1 point, cards are turned over and play continues with next player until all cards in hands have been played.

If during play a player announces cards value 15 they get 2 points.

If during play a player announces cards value 31 they get 2 points and cards are turned over and play continues with next player.

If during play a player makes a word, they get a point for each letter in the word and play continues with next player.

Play continues until all players have played their four cards at which time each player counts and pegsthe points from their hand.  Hands are counted in order they were dealt with dealer counting last.  After dealer counts and pegs their hand, they then get to count and peg the crib and play continues with next player being dealer.

Play variation 2
First, each player chooses the best four cards from their hand and discards face down the other cards into the dealers crib.  Once each player has discarded to the crib, the player receiving the first card cuts the deck, and that card is turned up to be used in all hands and the crib.

Then, the player receiving the first card from dealer begins play by laying down a card face up announcing value. The next player then plays a card announcing value of cards played plus value of card being played.

If during play a player announces cards value 15 or a multiple of 15 they get 2 points.

If during play a player makes a word, they get a point for each letter in the word and play continues with next player.

Play continues until all players have played their four cards at which time each player counts and pegs the points from their hand.  Hands are counted in order they were dealt with dealer counting last.  After dealer counts and pegs their hand, they then get to count and peg the crib and play continues with next player being dealer.

Game Ends
The game ends as soon as any player gets their 121st point.

Note
Solitaire may be played with four players as two teams.  The only difference would be each player is only dealt five cards.
